Alternative Housing Coordinator

A resume may not be substituted for an application. <div id="box" style="border: solid; padding: 15px; border-color: gold; background-color: lightgray;"> Minimum Requirements: <ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of criminal justice or social work experience; or</li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.</li></ul> Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must maintain a valid driver's license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle.It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment. </div> Position Summary: The Alternative Housing Coordinator collaborates with correctional personnel, contracted agencies, the courts, and other Allegheny County departments on the processes of identifying, assessing, and ensuring the transfer of eligible Allegheny County Jail incarcerated individuals to contracted alternative housing facilities. The Alternative Housing Coordinator reports to the Residential Placement Manager. Overview: Duties: <ul><li>Assists with implementing strategies proposed by the Jail Administration and ensures compliance with all policies pertaining to alternative housing.</li><li>Coordinates and monitors the referral clearance process for incarcerated individuals pending transfer to alternative housing.</li><li>Discusses alternative housing questions or concerns with incarcerated individuals in assigned housing units and responds in a timely and professional manner.</li><li>Assists the Residential Placement Manager with facility inspections and site visits and develops related reports.</li><li>Works directly with alternative housing providers to provide on-site support, monitor residents' progress, and resolve any issues or grievances brought forth by residents in collaboration with provider staff.</li><li>Acts as a liaison between the jail and pre-trial services, adult probation, and contracted alternative housing providers.</li><li>Conducts periodic training as needed for contracted providers.</li><li>Prepares necessary documentation for submission to the courts and periodically attends specialty court hearings.</li><li>Utilizes databases to support the processing and monitoring of referrals and placements.</li><li>Monitors provider use of data reporting systems to ensure information is entered in accordance with policies.</li><li>Handles all alternative housing functions in the manager's absence and takes direction from the Deputy Warden.</li><li>Performs other related duties as requested.</li></ul> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: <ul><li>PA Title 37 regulations.</li><li>Correctional security policies.</li><li>Alternative Housing practices.</li></ul> Skill in: <ul><li>Microsoft Office.</li></ul> Ability to: <ul><li>Maintain confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.</li><li>Be a team player with demonstrated partnership and collaboration skills.</li><li>Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.</li><li>Work respectfully with individuals in or impacted by the criminal justice system.</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships while working on a multi-disciplinary team.</li><li>Learn County-specific computer systems and databases.</li></ul> Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County Veterans' Preference: Will be awarded to eligible candidates. <div id="Needtocenterandbold" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - M/F/V/D </div> <div id="Needtocenterandbold2" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> <a href="https://apps.alleghenycounty.us/HRJobApplication/firstpage.aspx?id=2951" id="MainContent_Applyonline">Apply Online</a> </div> </div> </div>
